Electric Honey Presents ‘Electric Money’

Fundraiser for the Japanese Tsunami Fund

To celebrate Independent record store day on Saturday 16th of April, The Electric Honey record label of Stow College, Glasgow will be changing its name for the day to “Electric Money” and releasing a limited edition split 7″ white vinyl single featuring Woodenbox with a Fistful of Fivers and White Heath. All monies collected from this venture will go directly to the Red Cross Japanese Tsunami fund.
The single priced £3 will be available in local Independent stores and mail order by contacting kenmccluskey62@hotmail.com

Vinyl Japan have also invited Electric Honey to put forward a track for their own Tsunami Charity album which will be released in the next month. The Japanese music industry has been very supportive of Scottish music in recent years and hopefully this will show Scotland’s appreciation and help a little by contributing to the Red Cross Japanese Tsunami Fund.

RICHARD JOBSON CONFIRMED AS WIDE DAYS KEYNOTE SPEAKER

Film-maker, writer, poet and musician Richard Jobson has been confirmed as the keynote speaker for Wide Days in Edinburgh on April 7. The Dunfermline-born Renaissance man will be interviewed about his diverse career which began in the 70’s as the teenage frontman for Scottish punk band The Skids.

His participation will further add to the music and film theme, which will also be explored in a dedicated seminar covering various aspects of this area.

“I am delighted that Richard is able to take part in Wide Days,” says co-organiser Olaf Furniss. “His incredible range of activities afford him a unique perspective which should be of value to anyone involved in music, film or writing.”

Jobson’s movie credits include New Town Killers, The Purifiers and 16 Years Of Alcohol, and the talk will include clips of his work, as well as news of a forthcoming film with strong music connections.

Furniss acknowledges that the keynote is the result of several years of persistent pestering dating back to 2005.

“I first approached Richard at a football match when I asked him to come and DJ at one of our Born To Be Wide nights,” he recalls. “Periodically I would bump into him in unexpected locations, including a dingy night club where he was filming New Town Killers. It’s fantastic that he can finally take part in one of our events.”

Soundtrack composer Malcolm Lindsay, who has worked with Jobson, will also be participating in Wide Days as part of the Music In Films seminar, along with director Eleanor Yule, Soundtrack Music Festival co-founder Huw Williams and Musicians Union head of media Nigel McCune. They will be joined by Caroline Gorman from Glasgow-based Rage Music, which supplies music for tv, films and advertising.

“This panel will explore the key aspects which need to be considered when it comes to scores and the use of songs in movies,” explains Furniss. “The aim is to provide a link between the music and film communities.”
