A limited number of early bird tickets will go on sale next week for the award-winning Hebridean Celtic Festival which is gearing up to mark its 20th anniversary in 2015.

The tickets for the internationally acclaimed festival, which was voted Best Event or Festival at the Highlands and Islands Tourism Awards earlier this month, will be available to buy online at http://www.hebceltfest.com/ from 10am on Monday 1 December.

It’s an opportunity for fans to grab a bargain as they are being held at the 2014 prices of £79 for the weekend (£61 for concession and £19 for children under 14) for the main arena events.

The 20th HebCelt, based in Stornoway on Lewis, will be held from 15-18 July 2015.

Musicians from the festival will kick off the 20th anniversary year in style when they will be among Edinburgh’s first foot guests during the capital’s Hogmanay celebrations.

Artists representing HebCelt will perform at a special ceilidh being held as part of a series of free live gigs ‘hidden’ in ten spaces in the Old Town on 1 January.

Next year’s festival aims to build on a successful 2014 event which staged its biggest ever programme of 40 acts, headlined by Big Country, Levellers and Donnie Munro.

A huge influx of music fans from overseas made up the estimated 14,000 strong audience which proved a major economic boost for the islands.

Festival director Caroline Maclennan said: “2014 has been a very rewarding year; the festival was another great success and winning a major award was another massive achievement for the team.

“However, 2015 is a special year for us, and we’re already gearing up to make it the most memorable for our fans yet.

“The advance tickets for the 2015 festival will make an ideal Christmas present for our supporters, who can start looking forward to the summer months ahead.”

SCOTTISH MUSIC AWARDS ANNOUNCE FATHERSON & PRIDES TO PERFORM AT CELEBRATED MUSIC CEREMONY

Two of Scotland’s hottest new bands are set to rock up this year’s Scottish Music Awards. Organisers have announced that alternative rock band FATHERSON and synthpop group PRIDES will be performing at the upcoming event that supports Nordoff Robbins Scotland, and takes place at the Old Fruit Market in Glasgow on Saturday, 29th November.

The ceremony takes place every year to celebrate the hugely diverse and internationally successful Scottish music industry. It also acts as the largest source of funding for Nordoff Robbins Music Therapy in Scotland, which requires £600,000 a year to operate and is grounded in the belief that everyone, no matter how ill or disabled, can respond to music.

Prides

Prides

Prides first made their mark on the Scottish Music Industry in 2014 with the release of their EP, ‘The Seeds You Sow’. Since then they have gone on to perform all over the UK. From supporting Blink 182 to headlining at Reading & Leeds Festival, their live performances are what really make them stand out from the crowd. That and the fact the group’s unique sound is created from drummer Lewis Gardiner’s kitchen! Front man Stewart Brock states. “We pride ourselves in being able to win over a crowd.” They achieved this feat in spectacular fashion in August, performing live at the Glasgow 2014 xx Commonwealth Games Closing Ceremony to 7.5 million people on BBC1.

On the work of Nordoff Robbins, Prides singer/keyboardist Stewart Brock said “We went to visit Nordoff Robbins in London recently , and speaking to them about the work they do really affected us. As musicians, we’ve all been impacted by the power of music, and it’s amazing to see it in practice – it’s great to be able to get involved with the Scottish arm of the charity.”

Fatherson

Joining Prides on stage are another act renowned for their live performances, Fatherson. In 2014, Fatherson released their debut album ‘I Am An Island’ to critical acclaim from some of the UK’s most respected outlets including Kerrang!, Rock Sound and Clash as well as receiving airplay from major radios stations including BBC Radio 1 (Zane Lowe, Greg James, Huw Stephens), BBC Scotland, and XFM. Their career has involved relentless touring of the UK including supporting bands such as Frightened Rabbit and Idlewild, alongside successful headline performances. They have also stepped onto the stage of some of the nation’s biggest festivals, including T in the Park and Rockness. Marc Strain from the band commented on their upcoming performance at the Scottish Music Awards saying, “We’re really excited to be involved, this year has been a really big one for us and we’re all looking forward to rounding it off with our performance at the Scottish Music Awards.”

These two acts, so polished in the art of live performance are sure to leave guests proud of the talent that Scotland has to offer. The Scottish Music Awards are bursting with exciting new talents like Prides and Fatherson, and will round off Glasgow’s year long celebration of sport and culture in the city on Saturday November 29th at the Old Fruitmarket.

PROCLAIMERS TO HEADLINE BELLA’S NEW FIRST NIGHT

Buy your Bella tickets NOW @

The Proclaimers have been announced today as the headliners for Thursday 6th August 2015 at Belladrum Tartan Heart Festival (6th-8th August 2015; Beauly, Inverness-shire), the first time the festival has featured a main stage headliner on its enhanced opening night. Scotland’s iconic Reid brothers, Charlie and Craig, will be making a return to the festival exactly ten years after they last headlined it.

Since 2005, the year of their last appearance at Bella, The Proclaimers have gone from strength to strength, culminating in the hit stage musical Sunshine On Leith, which was turned into a movie, released in 2013. The film spent a month in the UK top ten, peaking at number 2, it was the 5th highest grossing UK independent movie of 2013 and has been nominated for five awards at the Scottish BAFTA’s on 16th November.

The Proclaimers ended their last 2 year World tour in October 2013 in spectacular fashion (following Rod Stewart’s opening run) as they became the first Scottish based band to pay the new Hydro Arena in Glasgow.

Since then Craig and Charlie Reid have focused exclusively on writing a new album and with that creative process now finally completed, they start recording with their band and producer Dave Eringa (Manic Street Preachers, Idlewild, Wilco Johnson & Roger Daltrey, The Who) later this month. Their 10th studio album will then be released by Cooking Vinyl in Spring 2015.

Next summer will see The Proclaimers embark upon another tour around the World and a second appearance at Belladrum is their first confirmed performance for 2015 . Craig and Charlie commented “We are absolutely delighted to heading back to Belladrum after 10 years since we first played there in 2005. It has been fantastic to see the festival grow from strength to strength and we look forward immensely to returning and playing the Garden Stage next August.”

“I can’t think of a more appropriate act to launch our first year of offering an extra main stage headliner at Bella,” said festival promoter Joe Gibbs. “The Proclaimers gave the event the support it needed from a major Scottish act in its difficult second year. Who better, now, to launch our new third night on the main stage?”

In order to see The Proclaimers, patrons of the festival will need to buy a three day ticket to the event as the usual weekend ticket does not give access to the main stage on the Thursday night. Tickets including child (12 & under), campervan/caravan and electrical hook-up e-tickets can be purchased by going to the ticket link http://www.skiddle.com/festivals/belladrum/?sktag=12774 Early bird tickets to the twelfth staging of Belladrum Tartan Heart Festival sold out in under seven hours.

Further acts for the festival will be announced around March or April 2015 which is about the time the line-up usually begins to materialise.

Bella sold out in record time in 2014, and has sold out each of the last six years, often months before the event so fans are urged to buy early to avoid disappointment. E-tickets are more customer-friendly and less easy to scam, but printed tickets are also on sale via the usual retail outlets.

In 2014 the legendary Tom Jones headlined the Friday of the festival while the Saturday night featured the popular rock band Razorlight at the top of the bill. Frightened Rabbit returned to the event as very special guests. Also featured were: Billy Bragg; Band of Skulls; The Temperance Movement; I Am Kloot; Catfish & The Bottlemen; and Grandmaster Flash

Belladrum 2015 takes place in the beautiful Highland surroundings of Belladrum Estate, near Beauly in Inverness-shire. The independent festival has built a reputation for its eclectic line-ups, its offbeat non-musical entertainments and its all-ages approach. The festival won a VisitScotland Thistle Award in 2009 and is a past winner of the Grassroots Festival Award at the UK Festival Awards, the festival industry’s ‘Oscars’.

Tiree Music Festival (18-20 July) is releasing 100 last chance tickets to celebrate the announcement of Calmac Live Lounge, a new acoustic stage for the 2014 festival.

Sponsored by award-winning ferry operator Caledonian MacBrayne (CalMac), the stage will host acoustic performances from Scotland’s most established songwriters including Dougie McLean and Roddy Woomble.  Tickets will be available from Friday 30 May at 9am at https://shop.ticketscript.com/channel/web2/start-order/rid/QWNXAX4V/language/en

Tickets for Scotland’s Best Small Festival sold out long before the stellar line-up, which includes Eddi Reader, Julie Fowlis, Sharon Shannon Big Band, Peatbog Faeries and Roddy Woomble & Band, was even announced. This is the last opportunity for fans to secure their place at the festival which keeps going from strength to strength.  Having won four major event awards in 2013 and added an extra day for 2014, the new stage is the latest development for TMF.

As well as performances from established acts, Calmac Live Lounge will host acoustic sets from up and coming singer- songwriters, such Alec Dalglish, Sorren MacLean and Zoe Bestel.   The stage will also put on interactive music workshops and Ulpan Gaelic lessons for the whole family to get involved in.

This year’s festival will feature three stages Cairn Capital Main Stage, Tiree Trust Tent and Stage which will sit alongside the Calmac Live Lounge.

Says festival Director Daniel Gillespie “Festival goers are in for a real treat with the Calmac Live Lounge, as the stripped down performances set against the beautiful backdrop of Tiree is guaranteed to offer an unrivalled atmosphere and expect some impromptu collaborations between acts as well.

“We would like to thank CalMac, Cairn Capital and Tiree Trust for their support and are delighted to offer another 100 fans the chance to be at TMF.  2014 really is shaping up to be our best festival ever and we still have more to announce including our TMF Unsigned shortlist and then winner.”

Cathy Craig, Commercial Director at CalMac, said: “The Tiree Music Festival is one of the biggest events in our area.  CalMac plays a huge part in getting both festival goers and the musicians themselves to this highly popular event and this year we decided to go one step further and raise our profile at the festival by sponsoring this stage at which the winner of our CalMac Culture singer/songwriter competition will perform.”
