“Music events will be happening in venues around Aviemore and even on Cairngorm Mountain! Last year our club nights were all sold out so be sure not to be late or you could be left out in the cold!”

The MV Festival will feature, live bands, live singers, clubnights with top DJ’s and comedy nights, with some of the UK’s top comedians and on the mountain and on the snow, there will be some spot prizes to get you in the party mood and the chance to try skiing or snowboarding for the first time with the Ski School and Onyx Snowboarding.

SAMAs 2013 NOMINEES ANNOUNCED

click to go to SAMA's website

The Scottish Alternative Music Awards return for their fourth year, drawing necessary attention to the Scottish bands and artists that mainstream music tend to ignore.

After the success of last year, with artists such as Fatherson and Bwani Junction performing, as well as appearances from winners Fridge Magnets and guests Ally McCrae from BBC Introducing this year sets to provide a platform as well as deserved recognition for the hard working and talented members of the Scottish music industry.

Our nominees are chosen by leading figureheads in the Scottish music industry, from across the country, ensuring a fair and justified list of relevant and deserved nominees. It is a hard job for our judges to choose from the vast list of talented artists we have across our nation, and we very much appreciate their informed decisions. Nominations are then put to a 10 day public vote.

SAMAs 2013 will run in association with Gorbals Sound recording studio, located just south of the River Clyde and a short walk from Glasgow City Centre in the heart of the historic Gorbals area. Studio Manager Paul Quinn comments, “We’re really thrilled and excited to be sponsoring SAMA’s as we see it as a great opportunity to connect with the grassroots of Scottish Music and it’s a great window for these young, up and coming artists to put themselves in, long may it continue.”

Founder and Creative Director of the SAMAs, Richy Muirhead says:

“The shortlist of nominees are excellent. I think this is a great opportunity for new and old music fans to hear an eclectic bill of artists from all over Scotland. Its an exciting time for the SAMAs going into year 4, the music scene here is very much alive!”

There’s a launch event tonight (Thursday 7 February at Bar Bloc Glasgow from 9pm) which features performances by previous nominees and winner Alan McKim, The Little Kicks and TeKlo.

The main awards will take place at the Glasgow Garage on Friday 8 March, and is hosted by comedian Billy Kirkwood. Tickets are on sale for the awards evening now – £10 via Tickets Scotland (In-store & Online) www.tickets-scotland.co.uk
