The Proclaimers have been announced today as the headliners for Thursday 6th August 2015 at Belladrum Tartan Heart Festival (6th-8th August 2015; Beauly, Inverness-shire), the first time the festival has featured a main stage headliner on its enhanced opening night. Scotland’s iconic Reid brothers, Charlie and Craig, will be making a return to the festival exactly ten years after they last headlined it.
Since 2005, the year of their last appearance at Bella, The Proclaimers have gone from strength to strength, culminating in the hit stage musical Sunshine On Leith, which was turned into a movie, released in 2013. The film spent a month in the UK top ten, peaking at number 2, it was the 5th highest grossing UK independent movie of 2013 and has been nominated for five awards at the Scottish BAFTA’s on 16th November.
The Proclaimers ended their last 2 year World tour in October 2013 in spectacular fashion (following Rod Stewart’s opening run) as they became the first Scottish based band to pay the new Hydro Arena in Glasgow.
Since then Craig and Charlie Reid have focused exclusively on writing a new album and with that creative process now finally completed, they start recording with their band and producer Dave Eringa (Manic Street Preachers, Idlewild, Wilco Johnson & Roger Daltrey, The Who) later this month. Their 10th studio album will then be released by Cooking Vinyl in Spring 2015.
Next summer will see The Proclaimers embark upon another tour around the World and a second appearance at Belladrum is their first confirmed performance for 2015 . Craig and Charlie commented “We are absolutely delighted to heading back to Belladrum after 10 years since we first played there in 2005. It has been fantastic to see the festival grow from strength to strength and we look forward immensely to returning and playing the Garden Stage next August.”
“I can’t think of a more appropriate act to launch our first year of offering an extra main stage headliner at Bella,” said festival promoter Joe Gibbs. “The Proclaimers gave the event the support it needed from a major Scottish act in its difficult second year. Who better, now, to launch our new third night on the main stage?”
In order to see The Proclaimers, patrons of the festival will need to buy a three day ticket to the event as the usual weekend ticket does not give access to the main stage on the Thursday night. Tickets including child (12 & under), campervan/caravan and electrical hook-up e-tickets can be purchased by going to the ticket link http://www.skiddle.com/festivals/belladrum/?sktag=12774 Early bird tickets to the twelfth staging of Belladrum Tartan Heart Festival sold out in under seven hours.
Further acts for the festival will be announced around March or April 2015 which is about the time the line-up usually begins to materialise.
Bella sold out in record time in 2014, and has sold out each of the last six years, often months before the event so fans are urged to buy early to avoid disappointment. E-tickets are more customer-friendly and less easy to scam, but printed tickets are also on sale via the usual retail outlets.
In 2014 the legendary Tom Jones headlined the Friday of the festival while the Saturday night featured the popular rock band Razorlight at the top of the bill. Frightened Rabbit returned to the event as very special guests. Also featured were: Billy Bragg; Band of Skulls; The Temperance Movement; I Am Kloot; Catfish & The Bottlemen; and Grandmaster Flash
Belladrum 2015 takes place in the beautiful Highland surroundings of Belladrum Estate, near Beauly in Inverness-shire. The independent festival has built a reputation for its eclectic line-ups, its offbeat non-musical entertainments and its all-ages approach. The festival won a VisitScotland Thistle Award in 2009 and is a past winner of the Grassroots Festival Award at the UK Festival Awards, the festival industry’s ‘Oscars’.
