RAPAL TV on BBC ALBA – Starts Thursday 15 August 2013 10.00 – 10.30pm for 7 weeks
RAPAL TV makes a welcome return to BBC ALBA tonight for a new series to showcase the hottest bands and artists emerging from the Scottish music scene.
The acclaimed series, hosted by Emma MacInnes and Vic Galloway, returns for eight shows and gets underway with studio sets from The Velveteen Saints, AMWWF, Siobhan Wilson, Donald Macdonald and the Islands and Young Fathers.
Kicking off the first programme in the series will be Glasgow’s The Velveteen Saints, who offer a mix of razor sharp fifties, garage rock ‘n’ roll, big beats and three-part vocals. Last year was a big year for the band who toured with Tim Burgess, The View and Joy Division/New Order bassist Peter Hook. This year they had their debut at T In The Park, performing on the T Break stage.
Joining The Velveteen Saints in the RAPAL studio will be the up-and-coming Dundee band Anderson McGinty Webster Ward and Fisher (AMWWF). Formed in late 2011, AMWWF is being hailed by many in the industry as one of the hottest bands in Scotland this year.
Viewers will also be treated to some vocalist performances from Siobhan Wilson, whose musical journey has taken her from Scotland to France and the United States – and from classical to jazz and blues. A talented and sought-after solo artist, Siobhan is an established act on the Glasgow music scene and beyond.
Throughout the series, viewers will also be able to sample some great music from up and coming acts including The River 68’s, Washington Irving, One Last Secret, Conquering Animal Sound, Macanta, Tom Vevers, VUKOVI and Adam Stafford, who will all feature on the RAPAL TV stage.
RAPAL TV’s new eight part series will be broadcast on BBC ALBA on Thursday 15 August at 10.00pm and each consecutive Thursday for the next seven weeks.
Complementing the TV series, RAPAL has a dedicated radio show that can be heard every Monday to Thursday at 7.00pm on BBC Radio Nan Gàidheal.
