Edinburgh’s Lord Provost will officially open proceedings on Saturday 25
May as the inaugural Edinburgh Guitar & Music Festival gets underway. The Edinburgh Corn Exchange opens its doors to a host of international performers, exhibitors and visitors for the three-day event that includes concerts, seminars, a trade exhibition and a fundraising Minstrel Walk, as well as the finals of a competition for young guitarists. During his visit, the Lord Provost will open the exhibition, attend the Minstrel Walk and visit the various performance and seminar areas.
A packed programme of events running from 10.00am to 11.00pm each day awaits visitors, some of whom are known to be travelling from far-flung areas of the globe. Featured artists include Donnie Munro, Sandi Thom, Jan Akkerman, John Doan, Ahmed Dickinson Cardenas, John Etheridge, Eric Faulkner, Peter Finger and Simon Thacker.
Festival partners include the Academy of Music and Sound, Fender, First Tutors, GuitarGuitar, Rockschool, Harley Davidson Edinburgh, Hilton Worldwide, John Swan Properties, Nordoff-Robbins Music Therapy and Yamaha.
A pre-Festival party night takes place at the Corn Exchange on Friday 24 May to celebrate the event, with a number of bands taking part. Tickets for this event are still available at £15.00 each.
A Festival branded shuttle bus will run between Edinburgh Waverley Station and the Corn Exchange daily from 10am to 7.00pm, as well as on the party night.
