Edinburgh Guitar & Music Festival online booking now open for packed programme of events
Tickets are now on sale for the inaugural Edinburgh Guitar & Music Festival, which takes place from Saturday 25th-Monday 27th May at the Corn Exchange in Edinburgh. The Festival features an impressive line-up of musicians from Europe and the USA representing a wide range of styles and genres. Artists include Sandi Thom, Jan Akkerman, John Doan, Ahmed Dickinson Cardenas, John Etheridge, Eric Faulkner, Peter Finger, Simon Thacker and Gregg Wright. Headlining the Finale concert on Monday 27th is Donnie Munro. The former Runrig lead singer will be backed by some of the country’s finest musicians, bringing the Festival’s event programme to an exciting close.
As well as enjoying the many and varied performances, festival visitors can also participate in an extensive programme of seminars covering all aspects of guitar playing from metal, funk, jazz and folk accompaniment to harp guitar and ukelele. Sessions are delivered by an international group of highly experienced tutors including Phil Hilborne (Surviving as a Rock Guitarist), Hugh Burns (Getting the Right Sound) and Pete Sklaroff (Rock 2 Jazz). A trade exhibition, plus the finals of the Festival’s competition for young guitarists adds to a packed programme that runs each day from 10.30am until 11.00pm.
A recent addition to the Festival, Guitar on the Green, ensures that the long weekend has plenty to offer the whole family. The outdoor area in front of the Corn Exchange becomes an additional venue for various activities including a daily “Minstrel Walk”, in which people are invited to walk and play guitar in fancy dress raising funds for the Festival’s nominated charity Nordoff Robbins Music Therapy, Scotland.
