Top Names in Scottish Traditional Music Launch Highland Hospice Christmas CD
A Gaelic Christmas CD which will raise funds for Highland Hospice was launched last night at a spectacular Blas Festival event in Eden Court Theatre, Inverness.
Brìgh na Nollaig, which translates as ‘Essence of Christmas’, features of a selection of carols performed by some of the very top names in Scottish traditional music.
Artists Kathleen MacInnes, Margaret Stewart, Maggie MacDonald, Bruce MacGregor and Alasdair Taylor treated a room packed full of Highland Hospice invited guests and supporters to live performances of a range of music, including their tracks from the CD.
Other featured artists on Brìgh na Nollaig include Julie Fowlis, James Graham, Caledonian Canal Ceilidh Trail, Anna-Wendy Stevenson, Iain MacDonald, Lews Castle College, Flying Fiddles and Inverness Gaelic Choir.
The stunning CD, which was produced and licensed to Highland Hospice by Eyeline Media Ltd and MG ALBA, consists of carols which were originally recorded for broadcast on BBC Alba as part of their watch night services. None of the featured musicians have received a fee. This means that all profit from sales will help Highland Hospice to deliver palliative care to patients and their families all over the Highlands, free of charge.
Featured artist Kathleen MacInnes said, “I am delighted to be involved with Brìgh na Nollaig. It’s a lovely CD and, on behalf of all the musicians who are on it, we hope that it raises lots for Highland Hospice.”
