Oxjam Glasgow Takeover presents BOXjam:
Monday 25 July to Sunday 31 July 2011
Musicians from across Scotland bring their beats and riffs to Box, Glasgow, from July 25 to July 31, in aid of Oxfam for the BOXjam week long fundraising festival.
The event begins at 19:00 on Monday July 25 running over next seven nights and wrapping up at 03:00 on Sunday July 31. Bands include: Fife’s Indie Rock Band Havana Rising; Glasgow’s Alternative Indie Rockers No Fxd Abode; alternative rock four-piece Life In December from Beith, North Ayrshire: Funky Soul and Rock band The Random Guy; and Edinburgh’s Gold Lions.
Alison Miller (24), Glasgow Takeover Manager, said: “BOXjam features awesome talent from across Scotland’s unsigned music scene. With the help of Box we have transformed the Glasgow live music venue into a fundraising music machine for a whole week. All the bands and musicians are giving their time and talent to help raise funds for Oxjam. Entry to all seven sensational nights is completely free.
“In addition to the live music, we will be hosting competitions including ‘guess the rockstar baby’, may be a bit of bonkers-backwards-bingo, selling Oxjam Cocktails and cupcakes, charging a teeny-tiny £1 fee for DJ requests, and literately embracing the audience with ‘hug an Oxjammer’. ”
BOXjam line up (19:00 to 03:00):
Monday 25 July: MK Ultra, Still Vintage, and Strange October
Tuesday 26 July: Open Mic night hosted by Ross Leighton (Fatherson) and Callum Wiseman (Jocasta Sleeps); Box are offering musicians who take to the stage a free pint for their tunes

The event is one of a series of fundraising gigs put on to raise money for Oxfam from June to October this year. They will culminate in a Takeover bonanza in October.
