Hello Everyone. We are sorry to announce that Frightened Rabbit will be unable to play this year’s Belladrum Festival. Yesterday we were offered a tour of the US that we simply could not turn down. We are very disappointed not to play this year but we hope you understand our decision. Belladrum is one of our favourite festivals and we know that you will all still have a lovely weekend. We would also like to thank the organisers for asking us to be part of their great festival and hopefully we can make it back in the future. Send our love to Deacon Blue and go see Admiral Fallow!! With 12 million albums sales between them, iconic Scots acts Texas and Deacon Blue are to headline the eighth Belladrum Tartan Heart Festival in 2011 (5th/6th August). They will be supported by Hothouse stage headliners Echo & The Bunnymen and Scots indie legends Frightened Rabbit * see above stop press news.

The line-up announced so far for Bella 2011 shows a huge range of talent reaching right down the bill including: Frank Turner; Newton Faulkner; Admiral Fallow; Dry The River; Anna Calvi; Ed Sheeran; Little Comets; MC Xander; Young Rebel Set; Emile Sande; Benjamin Francis Leftwich; Easy Star All Stars and Birdy . Added to these are: Teddy Thomson; 3 Daft Monkeys; Roddy Hart & The Lonesome Fire; The Amphetameanies; The Dangleberries; Torridon; Skerryvore ; The Webb Sisters; The Staves; CW Stoneking and The Primitive Horn Orchestra; Wooden Box With A Fistful of Fivers; Drunken Balordi; Iain McLaughlin & The Outsiders; James Mackenzie & The Aquascene; Cousti; Diddums and the Rooty Ma Toot Big Band!

As you know, Bella has sold out in both the last two years. Tickets this year are going at double the rate of last year. We don’t want our loyal, longstanding fans to miss out so please ensure you buy early to avoid disappointment. This year all tickets will be bar-coded and scanned at entrances.

MUSIC NEWS Scotland was born 20 years ago when dial up broadband was still around and desktop pc’s ruled. So we did what had been done since 220 AD in China and every month put ink on a printing plate, ran some paper over it and hey presto MNS was published (okay it was a wee bit more involved than that, but the basic principle was the same!) Move on to 2011 with high speed broadband and access to the www everywhere and the future was catching up with us rapidly. The volume of information flowing into MNS HQ was more than our monthly issue could cope with, and more and more Scottish music stories of great value were being spiked (an old press term not a dodgy drink). Reaching our vast number of readers in every conceivable nook and cranny of Scotland has always been a challenge monthly but to do that more often was physically not feasible. So we have doffed oor tam o’ shanter to the future and MNS is now a weekly digital publication, and not only weekly now but twice the number of pages than our old printed friend! Along with our MNS GIGguide and MNS FESTIVALS! supplements we are now publishing news and valuable information on Scottish music news every week :) We remain as true as ever to our launch roots of 8 years ago though - MUSIC NEWS Scotland supports all Scottish bands and performers no matter what style of music you’re involved in. Our aim is to circulate music industry news and to help to raise the profile of musicians and improve communications between genres.
