VINTAGE GURU, Glasgow’s premier vintage style mecca today officially announces the return of its hugely popular VINTAGE GURU UP & COMING LIVE MUSIC STAGE at this year’s WEST END FESTIVAL and a CALL TO ACTION for budding bands and musicians to submit entries.
Following the storming success of its inaugural launch in 2010 where tens of thousands enjoyed the sounds of the brightest new music talent around, the VINTAGE GURU STAGE is confirmed to return on Sunday 5th June.
Located in the heart of Kelvingrove Park, the stage got off to a flying start last year playing host to a raft of inspired acts including Emma’s Imagination who, shortly after wowing the Vintage Guru Stage audience, went on to win Must Be The Music judged by Dizzee Rascal, Sharleen Spiteri and Jamie Cullum, as well as notching up two Top 10 hits including a Number 1 on the indie chart!
BANDS REQUIRED!
Now with this year’s FREE submission process officially open, bands are being invited to enter their demos via the VINTAGE GURU website (www.vintageguru.co.uk) and it couldn’t be easier – simply complete the online form and provide a suitable link.
What’s more, every band or musician who enters has the guarantee by organisers that their material will be listened to, meaning everyone stands a chance of securing one of the eight coveted slots and playing to an expected audience of 1,500 during any performance.
Organiser ROBERTO COCOZZA commented “After the runaway success of last year and the incredible feedback received from bands and spectators alike, we are pleased to bring the Vintage Guru Stage back to the West End Festival bigger and even better for 2011. There is so much fantastic new music out there and we are delighted to provide a completely COMPLETELY FREE platform for the cream of the crop and to shine a much needed spotlight on their talents. We have heaps of exciting VINTAGE GURU activity planned in the lead up to the 5 June too so watch this space!”
The VINTAGE GURU UP & COMING LIVE MUSIC STAGE will be hosted this year by Scotland’s foremost champion of new music, JIM GELLATLY. Speaking about today’s announcement he said “I’m delighted to be involved in an event which again promises to showcase the wealth of emerging talent out there. I’m really looking forward to hosting the stage… no doubt unearthing more musical gems and helping them advance in the scene.”
The Stage will return to its lively epicentre close to the Stewart Memorial Fountain in Kelvingrove Park, easily accessible by all entries into the park but particularly the Argyle Street side. Proceedings kick off at 12.30pm with the public advised to get there early! .
